New research from Washington State University suggests that CBD may offer a promising new tool for those trying to quit smoking. The study found that low concentrations of CBD could inhibit the metabolism of nicotine, potentially reducing cigarette cravings. The research focused on enzymes involved in nicotine metabolism. By testing human liver tissue, the researchers found that CBD could inhibit enzymes like CYP2A6, which is responsible for metabolizing 70% of nicotine. This suggests that even at low doses, CBD could help curb the desire for cigarettes.
